2016 Book of the Year and Finalist!
Recently, two notable authors working in association with The Gates Group were recognized by two organizations for publishing acclaim. In June, Jared C. Wilson’s The Prodigal Church: A Gentle Manifesto Against the Status Quo (Crossway) was pronounced “book of the year” by WORLD magazine in the accessible theology category (just one of four categories). The Prodigal Church articulately points out problems in many “seeker” or “attractional” churches that emphasize self-improvement or life-enhancement rather than God. Jared’s latest book is UNPARALLELED: How Christianity’s Uniqueness Makes It Compelling (Baker Books) that launched this Spring.
In May, first-time author Caleb Kaltenbach was esteemed for his breakout book MESSY GRACE: How a Pastor with Gay Parents Learned to Love Others without Sacrificing Conviction (Waterbrook). As Caleb says, “Messiness is what happens when you try to live out God’s perfect grace as a flawed person in a flawed world.” The book hums with the good news of God’s love, truth, and grace while also addressing practical scenarios in the world we live in. Both the Evangelical Christian Publishing Association (ECPA) and WORLD magazine recognized MESSY GRACE as a finalist for book of the year.
